LOCATION:
The conference session will be held in the Talley Student Center. Conference registration will be set up on the 2nd floor beside the elevators. The conference will be held mainly on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors (See building map).

Basics of Service-Learning session

  • What is SL? (service vs. service-learning)
  • Who is involved?
  • Credit vs. non-credit bearing experience
  • Learning outcomes
  • Duration of experience – significance of length of experience
  • What does it mean to have an international experience
  • How do you create and organize the experience?
  • Role of reflection – introduce concept here as there will be a dedicated session later in program

10:45am – 11:30am

Breakout session #1

  • Interactive time to dig deeper into concepts and ideas
  • Also a good time to share from various campuses
  • Will use trained student facilitators to help guide discussion

11:45am – 12:45pm

Lunch

  • Keynote - Nadinne Cruz

1:00pm – 2:00pm

 

 

 

Risk Management Session – Mike Giancola and Ingrid Schmidt (NC State)

  • Introduce main issues that need to be considered
  • Health / Safety / Liability

2:15 – 3:00pm

Breakout session #2

  • Includes scenarios and case studies; participants help find solutions and procedures to respond appropriately
