INFORMATION On February 1-3, 2008 North Carolina State University is hosting the first Student Conference sponsored by the International Academic Collaborative of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The theme of the conference is “Transforming International Education through Service-Learning.” Growing numbers of students are realizing that international experience is a key piece of their university education, offering increased global awareness and inter-cultural sensitivity, thought-provoking academic enrichment, personal development, and enhanced marketability in their future careers. Increasingly, students are expressing the desire not only to benefit from, but to contribute to the international communities with which they interact. Service-learning is uniquely positioned not only to benefit and enhance relationships with those communities, but also to strengthen the academic experience itself.
